The earth owes me nothing
But I owe her everything
And I mean absolutely everything
I adore her
I worship her
And I am scared for her
It is odd to me that people find it odd that I would worship the earth
Nature is my church
The trees are my idols
The grass is my carpet
The sky is my ceiling
The rivers are like my veins
The flowers are the most precious ornaments that adorn my beautiful home
The earth is not here for industry
Or retail
Or business
Or profit
Industry has done quite enough to her fragile soul
Industry has raped, pillaged, abused and almost left her for dead
But like all heroic women
She will not be defeated
She will come back stronger
She will stand taller than ever before
She will roar louder than any bomb, than any bang, than any eruption
And she will keep roaring until her message becomes clear
We are all here because of her
But she will only take so much
Until she starts fighting back
Crops fail because we have gone too far
Industries crumble because they no longer serve the greater good
The earth is not here for us
We are here for her
We are her
And the sooner we remember that the better
We must protect us
For our children
For our future
For ourselves
She is you, she is me, she is us and we are her
We are all connected
The earth owes me nothing
But I owe her absolutely everything
